Introduction 

The University of Kansas School of Medicine Asian American Medical Student Association (AAMSA) was founded in the fall of 2001 by a group of second year medical students seeking a forum for issues pertaining to Asians and medical practice.

AAMSA is the Kansas Chapter of the Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association (APAMSA), a national organization that brings together all individuals interested in the health issues that affect Asians, so that we may have a strong, collective voice. We are interested in directly promoting the health and well–being of Asian communities. We strive to increase awareness of Asian cultures, helping health care workers understand how to care for the Asian patient in a culturally sensitive manner. AAMSA/APAMSA also provides an important forum and support system for APA students to meet, exchange information and experiences, as well as develop personally and professionally.

Mission Statement

The University of Kansas AAMSA and chapter organization of  APAMSA was formed to meet the specific needs and concerns of Asian American medical students in the state of Kansas

AAMSA provides a social and intellectual network for medical students of all ethnicities to mature as future physicians.

AAMSA works with other campus organizations to accomplish the aforementioned goals.

AAMSA is bound by a Constitution
