JayDoc Night. Collaboration with SNMA to sponsor a night at JayDoc Free Clinic

December
Awareness Project. We created, printed, and delivered two brochures (in English, Chinese, and Vietnamese) to the Asian community in Kansas City.
1. Free Clinic Brochure (perhaps a hyperlink here to the actual brochure): provided information regarding free clinics all over the KC area, helping the numerous patients who are uninsured or underinsured receive medical care at no or little cost.
2. Disease Awareness Brochure (hyperlink): provided information regarding diseases that strongly affect the Asian/Pacific Islander community, promoting awareness, early reporting, and early detection through screening tests.

Family Sponsorship Project. We sponsored a family who recently immigrated to the United States, providing them with needed clothing, shoes, and winter apparel, vitamins and pain/cold medicines, and items to maintain good dental and general hygiene. (Links to the pictures of the family? I've attached them just in case.)

Comments from the President:

AWARENESS PROJECT: We plan to work with student groups at UMKC & KCUMB medical schools on projects that will increase the community's awareness of important issues such as hepatitis B, free clinics in the KC area, bone marrow drives, smoking cessation, cancer screening, lupus, etc.

FAMILY SPONSORSHIP PROJECT: We will also sponsor a few families by providing them with needed supplies and informing them on how to access health care in the area.

WOMEN IN CHINA SCHOLARSHIP: Established by KUMC International Outreach, this scholarship provides tuition and supplies for middle and high school girls who are doing well in school but are in danger of dropping out due to financial difficulty. AAMSA plans to continue to sponsor at least one girl through her high school career.
