Stoles hung everywhere in the School of Nursing Atrium. Students were able to look at the Stoles before and after classes. Director of Human Resources, Rick Robards, takes advantage of the opportunity to read some of the stories connected to the stoles. “The Shower of Stoles is a collection of hundreds of liturgical stoles from (GLBT) people of faith from all over North America, and (Internationally). Martha started with about 80 stoles, today she has over 900. Martha began her presentation on the history of the stoles by sharing her own personal stole and story. Participants passed around the stoles and were able to see how much love was put into making each one unique, just like the people they represent. This particular stole had no name attached, just an AIDS ribbon, but it still is a profound symbol of a person’s life.

Both facility and student alike welcomed the time to discuss diversity issues. After the Shower of Stoles presentation participants were able to attend workshops. Here Larry Tyndall facilitates learning in small groups.
