Matthew was born and raised in Kansas City, MO. He attended Emporia State University, where he attained a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Glass. In 1995, Matthew moved back to Kansas City and took a job at local Glass studio where were he worked as a gaffer(glassblower) until September of 1999. After acquiring the position of Research Assistant to Dr. Martensen in the Department of History & Philosophy of Medicine, his interests in art shifted from creation of art the the historical, with a focus on art and medicine. Currently Matthew has finished his Masters in Japanese Art History. Matthew and his wife Melissa have two daughters, Kelsey Quinn, and Erin Mckenzie, and they are the joys of his heart. |
