Caleb Grote

My name is Caleb Grote and I’m from Bayard, Iowa.  I grew up on a small farm, where I was surrounded by nature constantly, which sparked my interest in the biological sciences.  I attended Iowa State University and graduated with a BS in Agricultural Biochemistry in 2007.

While at Iowa State I had the chance participate in several research experiences, all relating to nutrition and the food intake response hormones.  I also spent a summer at the Mayo Clinic doing research in the Immunology Department on the TCR and CXCR4.  I have not officially decided what field of research or medicine I will pursue.  My main interests include immunology and stem cells for research, along with pediatrics and surgery for medicine.

When not studying or in the lab, I can be found hunting, fishing, or doing anything outdoors.
