KUMC Statistics
- Since July 2005 - KUMC saved 2091 trees by recycling over 123 tons of paper!
- In April 2004 - Committee introduces one month trial recycling period.
- July 2004 a student budget grant was approved for a one
year pilot program to continue the recycling program.
- Since July 2005 - KUMC has recycled 15,492 pounds of plastic/aluminum
- In July 2005 - KUMC switched to Deffenbaugh Recycling to better serve
the campus and save money. We now accept tin/aluminum/plastic
in one container allowing more bins around campus.
- In 2006 alone, KUMC employees saved 871 trees by recycling their confidential documents with Shred-it

- Recycling one ton of newspapers saves 17 trees, 380 gallons of oil, three cubic yards of landfill space, 4,000 kilowatts of energy and 7,000 gallons of water!

- Junk mail rec'd in one day by Americans can provide energy for 250,000

- It takes about 450 years for one plastic bottle to break down in the ground!
- Plastic bottle recycling has increased nearly six-fold since 1990 (21.6%)
