Clerkship Description
This clerkship will provide the student with exposure to the various functions /
operations of managed care. Primary duties will include drug utilization review,
drug regimen review, case management, medical case review, formulary product review and
drug information search. The student will also be exposed to the electronic and
manual claim processing system. Professional interaction will include medical
directors, clinical pharmacists and nurse case managers.
Specific Site Requirements/Information
Hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday thru Friday. Dress code is business
casual, Monday-Thursday; casual on Fridays. If an off-site or special meeting is to
be attended, the student will be informed of the required attire. Meetings such as
the P&T Committee are scheduled in the evening, and the student is required to
attend. Notification will be given in advance as to the time and location of the
meeting.
Parking: On the first day of the rotation, park in the BCBS visitor's lot which can be
accessed from Grand (west side). After this, you will be issued a temporary ID badge
and information on satellite parking and shuttle service from the satellite lot.
