Clerkship Description

Dandurand Drugs is comprised of three separate pharmacies and the student will be exposed to and have the unique opportunity to learn and experience the intricacies and aspects of all three.  Dandurand Drug is a full line retail pharmacy that has been thriving and serving the east Wichita community for the last 30 years.  It is the only pharmacy  in the City of Wichita to emphasize natural products and remedies.  Dandurand Pharmacy is a separate long term care pharmacy focused on providing prescriptions and counseling to patients in long term care and/or institutional type facilities.  Lastly, Dandurand Compounding Pharmacy also consists of a brand new state of the art compounding pharmacy in which the student will have the opportunity to work in a 797 clean room and become familiar with the compounding of preservative free injection and unit dose inhalation medications as well as capsules, creams, trouches, gels, suppositories and various dosage forms for humans and animals.

The student will be involved in all aspects of each pharmacy including without limitation, counseling, economics, compounding, prescription preparation and much more.  Additionally, the student will have the opportunity to work with a great team of people who are very eager to have a KU Pharmacy student on board!

Specific Site Requirements/Information

Clerkship hours: Monday-Friday, 9 am - 5 pm

Dress: Business casual in Dandurand Drug and Dandurand Pharmacy settings; Surgical scrubs in compounding room.

Take the I-35 East Kellogg Exit and head West to Rock Road.  Take a right on Rock Road approximately 0.5 miles to the corner of Central and Rock Road.  Dandurand Drug is located in the Piccadilly Square Shopping Center at the corner of Central and Rock Road.
