PHPR 686 Hospital Rotation
CLERKSHIP DESCRIPTION Memorial Hospital is a 70-bed acute care facility. This site offers high quality care to meet the primary, acute and emergency health care needs of McPherson County. Services include Birthing Rooms, Cardiology, Chemotherapy, Diabetic Education, Emergency Room, EMS, ENT Surgery, Family Practice, Fitness Center, General Surgery, Intensive Care Laboratory, Obstetrics, Occupational Therapy, Ophthalmic Surgery, Physical Therapy, Radiological Exams (Nuclear Medicine, Mammography, MRI, CT Scanning, Bone Density, and Respiratory Therapy. During the 4-week rotation, the student may be able to visit many departments throughout the hospital to learn how a hospital functions to take care of their patients. Examples of various departments visits include laboratory, EMS, ICU, Surgery, Respiratory Care, Physical/Occupational Therapy, Pain Management, Chemotherapy, and Nursing. Memorial Hospital is affiliated with the University of Kansas School of Medicine serving as the South Central Kansas Medical Education Network Site. The position offers the opportunity to interact with medical students, and will share common sleep facilities as well as the Internet equipped library.
