Clerkship Description

Goals

• Understand and perform the following duties:

            a)  order entry/dispensing

            b)  Cart-fill/use of automated machines(limited)

            c)  Unit-dose packaging

  d)  IV admixture, including use of sterile technique

        and the preparation of IV's, parenteral nutrition

        and chemotherapy.

• Provide discharge counseling to patients (limited).

• Understand from Pharmacy perspective- Code Blue.

• Understand inventory process, expiration dating, and medication formulary.

• Provide drug information, recommendations, and consultations.

• Pharmokinetic consults.

• Quality improvement projects with multidisciplinary team.

• DUR/Pharmacotherapeutic/economic evaluations (therapeutic interventions).

• Med Historys

• Appropriate documentation in medical records.

• Antibiotic management.
