Clerkship Description
Porter Drug, Inc. is a busy, independent drug store located in SE Kansas.

• Family Pharmacy
• 4500 square feet includes a soda fountain, great gift and card department, growing alternative medicine section

Student will gain experience in computer order entry of prescriptions, patient counseling, working with 3rd party payment, unit dose for two different nursing homes and one assisted living home.  Depending on interest of student, rotation can include time at local rural hospital with geriatric psych unit.

Specific Site Requirements/Information

• Student hours are flexible.  Store is open from 8:30am to 6:30pm Monday thru Friday and 8:30am to 2:00pm on Saturday.
• Dress is business casual.
• Inexpensive site.  Students may choose to stay at our home, 3 1/2 blocks from store.
• You can join us for lunch at the soda fountain, bring lunch, or go out.

Porter Drug is located on US 75 in Neodesha.  Neodesha is a progressive small town - National Main Street City with over 1,500 jobs in our Industrial Park.  Available recreation can include hunting, fishing, golf, tennis, swimming, small town social activities.

Directions to Site
Neodesha is 125 miles from Lawrence.  Go south on I-35 to Beto Junction.   Then go south on US 75 to Neodesha.
