Clerkship Description
Ransom Memorial Hospital is a 60 bed, JCAHO accredited community hospital. This site
offers:
- General medicine
- ICU
- Telemetry
- Obstetrics
- Surgery
- ER
- Home Health
- Hospital-wide computer system
The central pharmacy offers experience in:
- Unit dose
- IV admixture
- TPN
- Chemotherapy
Patient focused clinical experience includes:
- Drug therapy monitoring
- Pharmacokinetic dosing service
- IV to PO program
- Renal dosing program
- Anticoagulation service
- Pain management
- Discharge counseling
- Code Blue response team member
Specific Site Requirements/Information
The clerkship includes shadowing of pharmacists and techs as well as shadowing in
other hospital departments. The student will learn to work on the clinical functions
in the pharmacy. He/she will also work on drug information questions and will
present a journal article. The student will give two patient presentations and will
present an educational presentation to the nursing staff.
Pharmacy hours: 0630-1700 Monday thru Friday
0700-1500 Saturday and Sunday
